Hands aims to provide a safe environment, education and improvement opportunities to Thai children and their communities. Underpinning all of Hands’ strategies and projects are the best interests of the inspiring children they support.

In 2004, countless Thai children were left alone and homeless after the tragic event of the Boxing Day tsunami. Former Australian police forensic specialist Peter Baines, working with the tsunami disaster victim identification team, was deeply touchedby the number of children left without families by the natural disaster.

He was inspired to establish an organisation that would help make a difference.

In late 2005, Hands Across the Water was formed.
