Marcom research house COMvergence hasΒ released itsΒ latest media agency rankings based on 2018 global and US numbers. Total billings spend is estimated at $US18.5Β billion.
OMD came out as 2018βs top ranked global media agency network with $US18.48 billion. GroupMβs Mindshare placedΒ second with $US17.2Β billion and Carat thirdΒ at $US15Β billion.
In Australia,Β OMD tops the list with $US587 million, followed by Carat withΒ $US523 million,Β MediaCom at $US378 million andΒ Wavemaker at $US376 million.Β
The top three groups are:Β GroupM with $US1.3 billion;Β OMG $US991 million;Β Dentsu Aegis $US747 million.Β
Billings at Omnicom Media Group grew 13% in 2018, saysΒ COMvergence.

The top five accounts impacting billings: Victoria Government $US39Β million;Β Media Merchants $US31Β million;Β Australian Federal Government $US29Β million;Β Nissan Motors $US24Β million;Β Hyundai $US24 million.Β
COMvergence says Australia media agency billings are calculated based on clients whose spend is greater than $US1Β million (the top 1000 advertisers).
Spend figuresΒ have 30% added to reflect digital media spend.
COMvergence estimates the total market studied in Australia atΒ $US6.45 billion, with the major agencies taking $US4.6 billion, and independents and in-house at $US1.84 billion.Β
